Getting to know...Laura Howes

What better way to get to know the KCP team than to put them under the spotlight and fire some personal questions at them. Laura Howes, Head of Origination, is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in the finance sector for over 20 years but let's dig a little deeper. Press play on the video below:

Most random impulse buy? 99% of my purchases are impulse buys, nothing overly random so far though!

Favourite food? Anything made with pastry mmmm!

If you weren't working in PE what would you be doing instead? Something creative, maybe in the wedding industry

What made you want to pursue a career in private equity? The variety and excitement of working with different people.

What do you enjoy most about your role at KCP? The team, we get on so well despite all having very different characters.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to pursue a similar career path? Work hard early on, get good exams results but maintain a personality and sense of humour as it helps build rapport with clients/colleagues/potential employers.

How has the industry changed since you began your career? The advancement of technology has permitted remote working, so there’s no need to sit in a dingy room on a client site anymore, hoorah!

Is there anything that you would change about the industry? Diversity; more women in senior positions creating visible role models for young women.
