“Working in private equity is both challenging and rewarding. I love working alongside talented entrepreneurs and business managers helping them to work through issues and challenges and playing a part in enabling them to build great businesses”
My role at KCP is very varied, one day I am managing our business alongside my fellow partners and the next day I will be looking at a new opportunity, meeting a management team and assessing an investment proposition. At KCP as well as ‘doing the deal’ the same individual will then join the board as we strongly believe that maintaining this continuity and the relationships built during the deal phase are vitally important. I am currently Non Exec Director on two of the businesses in our portfolio, YorkTest and Commhoist and this is without doubt the most satisfying part of the job! Each is very different, with different challenges, opportunities and risks, however, being part of the board and helping build the business, invest in new products, systems etc and having the opportunity of working with some exceptionally talented individuals is very rewarding and a real privilege.
I graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Accounting & Financial Analysis before training as a Chartered Account at PwC. I started in private equity in 1999 and joined Key Capital in 2015 in the Leeds office. When I’m not at work you are likely to find me either watching my sons play football or watching the mighty Blades tear up the Premier League! Any spare time left I try to devote to either cycling or running with mixed success.
