“The best thing about working in Private Equity is that when you’re successful everyone wins, you create returns for investors, help entrepreneurs deliver their visions, create sustainable jobs and satisfy customers while contributing to society through the tax system.”
Having been one of the founders of KCP it great to be able to work in a business that does Private Equity the way I believe it should be done. I really enjoy working in an environment where our relationships with investors and portfolio companies are based on honesty and trust and where we are all pulling in the same direction with the aim of building great businesses. Being part of a small team means that I get involved in all areas of the business including making investments, sitting on company boards, speaking to our investors and managing our own business. It’s very stimulating to work in such a fast-moving environment with people I respect and trust.
I graduated in Economics from the University of York in 1992 before training as a Chartered Accountant in London. I got my first job in Private Equity in 1998 and worked in the UK, Germany and Canada during the next nine years. Co-founding KCP in 2007 was probably the bravest and most satisfying thing I have done in my career to date and has given me a real insight into the challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur.
In my spare time I enjoy playing squash (as much as my ageing knees will allow) and going to the gym. I’m also keen supporter of Lincoln City FC. The rest of my time is spent being reminded of my many failings by my two harshest critics, my wife and daughter, while striving to be at least half the man that our dog seems to think I am.
