“I use my experience on both sides of the private equity coin having been both an investor and an executive director in a successful private equity backed business to help our investee companies thrive.”
I was born and bred in Guildford, Surrey, regularly getting knocked out on the rugby pitch for the Royal Grammar School and subsequently slumming it at Godalming College. After graduating from the University of Leeds in maths and economics, I moved to London and trained to become a Chartered Accountant with the medium-sized firm (then called) Littlejohn Frazer. Little did I know it, but the friends I made there would be difficult to shake off in my future career, as I have worked twice more with Owen Trotter, once at Baird Capital Partners and now, as partners in KCP.
When not working with Owen, I worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, have been finance director of James Harvard, the hugely successful international pharmaceutical recruiter who was sold to Hays plc in 2007 to become Hays Pharma and was also finance director and then non-executive director of ProClinical, a life-sciences staffing business that I helped to shepherd into a successful sale to ICS in 2018. With KCP, I have completed the following deals: Nurse Plus (sold in 2014), EarthStream Global (sold in 2020), Hallam Medical, Routes Healthcare, Construction Materials Online and Sparta Global.
Having lived in London and a short stint in rural France, I have now returned to Guildford where I live with my wife and daughter. In rare moments of downtime, I can be found twiddling on one of my excessive collection of guitars or mountain biking in the Surrey Hills.
